Hill Hex Map 001 Key -
Scale
1 hex = 352 yards. For orientation, consider North to be at the top of
this map... A gentle hill runs roughly north to south in this 5 mile hex.
The Western stream ranges from 10-40 feet wide, and 1-30 feet deep. The
Northern stream goes to a maximum depth of 8 feet, and ranges from 20 to
100 feet wide. Where the stream is narrow, it runs deep, where it is 80-100'
wide it runs only 1-2 feet in depth. The Eastern lake goes to a maximum
depth of 45 feet. Each elevation line is roughly 110 feet wide (36M),
and 11 feet high.(4M). The highest hilltop on this map is only 35 feet
above the ground level. The majority of the trees here are Basswood trees.
Basswood is a fast growing deciduous tree with large heart shaped leaves. In
mid-summer, it bears clusters of white fragrant flowers that develop into
nut-like fruits. Bees are fond of the flowers and produce a high grade
honey. It is a soft wood tree that can be used as a source of fiber for
making rope or for weaving baskets and mats. The tree reaches hieghts of
75 to 130 feet and foliage diameters of up to 100 feet.
